Puppy Bowl 2016

A Plus Garage Doors was very excited to work with a range of local area companies to run a Puppy Bowl! With the help of three local shelters, seven sponsors and thirteen vendors, we hosted our First Annual Puppy Bowl at our office location, 4010 Matthews-Indian Trail Road, Matthews NC 28104. Our goal with the event was getting shelter dogs adopted, and we gave it our all to accomplish this! Thankfully, if was a resounding success, as at least eight dogs were adopted as a direct result of the Puppy Bowl!

Our visitors were entertained by the main attraction, the Puppy Bowl itself, but there were also several other exciting things for attendees to do on-site. We sold hot dogs and chips, with all proceeds going straight to the shelters involved. There was a Rent-a-Puppy booth set up, where attendees could get some time petting and loving on a shelter dog. There were booths set up around the site for each vendor involved, and many of them held raffles or prize wheel promotions. These vendors were exactly what dog-owners needed to find a new gift for the pampered pooch in their life, be it water therapy, homemade treats, or a luxurious boarding experience. We worked hard to partner with a range of vendors so that everyone could find something that they’ve never seen before and spoil their pet!

These are two pictures from when A Plus Garage Doors volunteered at the Humane Society of York County. They are one of the shelters that we had the honor of working with for this Puppy Bowl, and a great choice if you’re looking to bring a new furry friend into your family’s life. You can see more about what we did with them on our Humane Society videos page. The Humane Society of York County, like all Humane Societies, is focused on giving abandoned animals a second chance by caring for and advocating for animals that were forgotten. They are always looking for volunteer helpers, so if you’re inspired by our Puppy Bowl, visit the Humane Society of York County page today!

We also had the pleasure of working with Peanut’s Place, a small breed rescue that specializes in helping smaller dogs of all ages and conditions who have no other place to go. Peanut’s Place was a joy to work with and brought some of the absolute cutest dogs! They are dedicated to their work and make sure to carefully screen every home before adopting a dog into it. Plus, before any of their dogs are adopted, Peanut’s Place makes sure that they’re looking and feeling their best with vet visits, microchipping, grooming, and training routines.

Kreitzer’s Critter Corral is the other shelter that we worked with, and they have some of the cutest puppies you have ever seen! Kreitzer’s works to get pets spayed and neutered, but their specific focus is on puppies, pregnant dogs, and mother dogs who have recently given birth. By focusing on these newborn puppies, Kreitzer’s is able to provide the medical and environmental basis for a healthy life, making sure that puppies and loved through their whole growth process and not neglected as soon as they start to grow larger. We were very excited to work with them!
